Game Log 1: Experience

Societal challenge and European value(s)
We have chosen Climate Change as our societal challenge seeing as it is all around us. Since climate change is a broad topic, we decided to put our focus towards a specific aspect of this societal challenge. We opted for plastic pollution. We have chosen to make a physical game, in the form of a boardgame (with supporting cards). It was hard for us to pinpoint which European value would best suit our game at this time.

Method experience
There weren't any specific decisions that were made as a result of the Method, seeing as we already had a concept idea to work with. Our only (and biggest) struggle was to have concrete plans on how the game would flow and what kind of mechanics it would have. We did collectively enjoy the Lego exercise, although probably not in a way we were supposed to. The challenge was to each fulfill our individual task (that none of the other group members were aware of), while also building the largest Lego tower. Other groups were finding new ways to communicatie, like via sign language or writing on sticky notes. We kind of just went straight for the Lego, but came together in our own way despite of having zero communication at all.

Game for culture
The player can experience the societal challenge through the exposure of the current situation regarding plastic pollution. The game will require players to help out with fishing up pieces of plastics from the ocean, all whilst managing their own resources.
